Plan cannot be determined until site selected (2019)

ARNIS RESIDENCY / Arnis / Most recently, the artist has dealt with the book "Garden Cities of Tomorrow". A book about utopias and proposals for a city in which the border between urban and rural blurs. Nature serves as inspiration for a city that adapts to the ever-changing conditions of today. In Arnis, the artist was not only inspired by nature, but also made it his own. Always in search of new sounds, Tuma created a musical experience from the sounds of Arnis' everyday life. The sound installation not only reproduces the sounds of the shipyard, but also lets them sound from a cabin that has been disassembled. In a small wooded area you will find sculptures made of recycled material from various Arniss industries such as boatbuilding. Not only does he want to work against constant new production and waste in times of global warming, but he also brings the viewer closer to the idea of dissolving boundaries between architecture and nature.

GLASS HORIZONS (2019)

UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III / Madrid / For the expressionist architects of the early twentieth century, glass was the material that promised a utopian city of spiritual economy in harmony with nature. They were looking for an architecture that would inspire the spirit to renounce materiality and transcend to a collective consciousness. The creator of the movement Paul Scheerbart said that "if we want to raise our culture to a higher level, we are obliged to transform our architecture. Something that will only be possible if we eliminate the quality of confinement in the spaces we live in." The expressionists sought to invoke the presence and union with the cosmos or an originator spirit by imagining crystalline structures interacting with the Sun and other light sources. This site-specific installation explorers this transcendental architectural philosophy as a way to reflect on new systems of coexistence.

LA VIE MATÉRIELLE (2019)

CITÉ INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS / Paris / A screen is made to hide, but it can also reveal another truth. The perspective of transparency is challenged here. Indeed, according to the light (natural or artificial) and the position of the screen, the shadows and reflections reveal new perspectives on what is "on the other side", transcending the paintings on the glass to the space (ground, walls, ceiling) nearby. Installation piece for the launch of Féros publication #4. Collaboration with Clément Gagliano.

EXTREME EXTERIOR (2018)

CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES / Madrid / A star map of Madrid is drawn onto the mirror and projected on the wall and ceiling of the space via an artificial light source. When we see the stars through reflecting telescopes are we actually seeing them or just their image reflected? The mirror and glass are the materials that allowed the human eye to explore the extreme exterior of the Universe, and that brought along a whole new understanding of the human spirit and coexistence with nature and others.
