'"The Cane, the Seagull, the Cork, Poseidona and the Cat "is a completely organic work, which consists of a set of bundles of cane Americana rising on one side of the old tower, and also, there is a scattering on the ground. The space is immersed in reeds and sound art, in which the sound of seagulls, the forest and of appraised tribal sounds that Tuma has performed and recorded. Through this work the artist considers "Why we call certain species invasive, opportunistic or protected? "According to Tuma, these qualifications respond to anthropomorphic concepts. For this reason, through the composition created by the canes and the sound elements, the work calls into question the terminology with which non-human species are treated by local management. In the Tuma's complex, a drawing is shown by Jordi Couso, Environmental Technician at Tossa de Mar City Council, who made it to the artist while explaining the problem of the invasion of the American Cane to the river spaces and their effects on native species.
Tuma's art is characterized by collaborative work, the connection with the environment, the town, its workers and the power that the artist attributes to the materials. This was a collaboration with the Department of the Environment of Tossa del Mar.
Tuma, who shows us his piece "The Cane, the Seagull, the Cork, Poseidona and the Cat" at the beginning of the exhibition, here at another room, reveals the continuity of the piece. In this one it shows a more worked vision to us of the vision of the invasive species of Tossa. The installation appears in two glass display cases. In one we find a sea of cane, remains of Poseidona algae, a cat stuffed animal and other natural elements that represent the nests of seagulls. In the adjacent display case we find the musical creation in collaboration a local pianist, Yulia Mikhaeli . Tuma, transfers the data of graphs of species considered invasive, to musical scores, and co creates a piece for piano. The melody invades the room." - Núria Gascons i Cuatrecasas
